I Recently returned from a 6 night trip to Hawaii. Myself, another chaperone, and 12 students spent the week learning about the culture, serving in various locations (Oahu and Maui), and experiencing the natural beauty of the islands. Our guide, Chandler, was fantastic. He helped create a memorable experience for our team, was conscientious about flexing and adapting our schedule to accommodate our needs, and went out of his way to get to know each individual on our trip. Contrary to other reviews, no one was without a bed! However, one student chose to sleep on the floor because he didn't want to share a bed with a fellow student like the rest of the team. I would highly recommend Chandler and Appleseed Expeditions.

Jody is a fantastic tour guide. He works so well with the kids, knows his stuff, and really makes the trip great.

My high school student truly enjoyed their trip!  For a kid who is typically reserved and quiet, they have mentioned four times since they've returned that they really enjoy the trip, that it was better than they'd expected, and that they are looking forward to seeing what travel options will be available next year.  Lots to do and see, comfortable accommodations, good food, and in this case very good at responding to unexpected, last minute weather related changes that extended the trip by days.

It was amazing! Great experiences and great leaders in a beautiful place. 

It would have been nice to have a little more down time. The day we went ziplineing, to El Yunque and did kayaking was pretty long and exhausting. If we could have spread out those to activities it would have been even more amazing.

The students had a great time.  The accommodations were nice (Liberia could have been a little better) and food was great.  The excursions were amazing.  Even the rain could not prevent the trip from being amazing.

We had a great time. The kids loved the experience. Paolo is fantastic and our driver was wonderful. Each step and curveball was attended to and taken care of in a profesional and meaningful manner. 

Paulo is very knowledgeable and made the trip so much fun. It was clear that he cared about giving us the best trip and sharing all his knowledge with us. 

I had a great time in Costa Rica. The days were packed with exciting activities and I was never bored for a minute. Paulo our tour guide was excellent and a great person to talk to as well as glean information from. Sandro our bus driver was also excellent in his role. 

It was a wonderful trip. All students and chaperones had a great time.

All flights were confirmed for this trip with us; however, the major airline used for your student's trip had an internal error with a partner airline resulting in flight delays. We do not have control over vendor operations, but we will share your feedback with the airline as it is important to us. We are glad your student enjoyed their time in Peru!

Well my kid had an amazing experience traveling in Peru

As a parent though I was disappointed my one of the last flights before Cusco they lost the reservation for her whole group

The kids lost a day of travel and had to sit in the airport for eight hours before they could get on another flight to Cusco.
This is after they already had three flights before getting to Lima
It’s hard to understand a whole groups flight reservation getting lost
Seems like these things should be confirmed.
Also the flight leaving Peru didn’t depart till 3am so they sat for more than 6 hours in the airport
Basically they spent a lot of time in the airports which disappointed me as a parent.

The dune buggy excursion and Sedona were top two experiences.  The food was great.  The time spent with friends was something that can’t be replaced.  The getting to know my teachers better is something I can’t forget.  Trip chaperones were knowledgeable about wildlife and taught us so much.  I’m very thankful for this experience.

The accommodations were great, and the students truly enjoyed the parks and workshops. The itinerary was very helpful, and managing the bookings went smoothly. Communication by email was generally clear and timely.

I would especially like to recognize our tour guide. She was wonderful to work with—present daily, responsive, and consistently willing to help.

Jody and Perla were beyond amazing! The villa was fabulous and the food was delicious. We could not have asked for a more wonderful trip. Every piece of the trip was perfect.

We had an amazing experience visiting the Dominican Republic.  Jody and Perla made us feel like family!  
For those that may be taking students with allergies, they went above and beyond to ensure the safety of our student and chaperone!!  We will definitely use them again!

Ava (my child) had an amazing trip and connected well with the Appleseed Expedisions staff, especially Miguel (I think his name was), where Ava shared some specifics of dealing with teens on the spectrum and ADHD. He seemed very attentive and to me that means he is just as much a willing learner as guide and good person.

This was an amazing experience. There were some logistics that made part of the trip very difficult and exhausting. We stayed at a different hotel every night for the first 5 nights, so it was a lot of packing up and moving. I think allowing a couple days at the beginning to acclimate to the altitude would have been helpful. After that, the trip was great. The eco lodge in Caraz was an oasis and a much needed reprieve from the moving around. I think it would have been cool to spend more time with the locals in the rural communities to learn more about their way of life. Overall it was a great trip, I was just exhausted for like 70% of it.

This trip was a once in a lifetime opportunity for my middle schooler and we are so grateful to Mr. Joe for his patience, kindness, and knowledge! There was a great balance of indoor, outdoor, interactive, education, and entertainment!

A Life-Changing Experience for Our High School Students
Our Spanish Honor Society just returned from a one-week, all-inclusive trip to the Dominican Republic, and it was nothing short of incredible. This tour was designed specifically for school groups, and every detail was perfectly suited to our high school students.

Our guide, Jody, was phenomenal—organized, knowledgeable, and great with the kids. He kept everything on track while also making the trip fun, meaningful, and educational. The itinerary blended adventure, culture, and service in a way that truly made an impact.

Students experienced unforgettable outings, including sliding down natural waterslides and visiting a monkey sanctuary. They also had the chance to serve the local community by helping clean and improve a school, which was a powerful and humbling experience.

At some point towards the end of each day, we gathered as a group to reflect on the day—what we saw, how it made us feel, and what we learned. It gave students a chance to process their experiences and connect more deeply with what they were seeing beyond just the surface.

Our meals were another highlight: all but two were authentic Dominican food, which gave the students a real taste of the culture. The other two meals, were Taco Bell and Wendy’s to give the kids something familiar.   

The accommodations were safe, clean, and comfortable, and being right on the beach added a peaceful, beautiful backdrop to the week.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the trip was watching the students make real connections—not just with each other, but with people in the Dominican Republic. They came home with a broader perspective on the world and a deeper appreciation for different ways of life.

This trip was more than just a school tour—it was a true life experience. I highly recommend this program to any school or youth group looking for something impactful, eye-opening, and unforgettable.

We had a great trip to the Dominican Republic. The food was amazing and the trip was very well planned out for us. Jody did an amazing job at guiding and leading us. 

We had a wonderful time.  The beaches are beautiful.

I had a great time on my service project trip to Costa Rica with my school. The guides were helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. We saw lots of amazing wildlife and beautiful flowers and plants. The trip to Crystal River, FL was amazing!  Our students had so many first time experiences: snorkeling with manatees, kayaking, zip lining, airboat rides to see alligators, etc.  They were engaged the entire trip.  Our guide, Leah, made the trip for the kids.  She was phenomenal!  We are planning on a different program for next year only days after returning from Crystal River.

This was an amazing experience and a wonderful trip!  From the accommodations to the experiences, this was phenomenal.  Appleseed and Jody truly came through on their mission statement as our students all commented how the trip changed their perspective of the world, made them think about how they impacted their world and community, pushed them to try new experiences, and how acts of service were the most impactful part of the 5 day trip.  We come from a small, rural town in North Carolina, with most of our group having to get passports and many first-time flyers.  The impact of this trip may best be summarized by one of our students:
The Caymans were nothing short of life-changing. Snorkeling through the stunning reefs felt like swimming in an underwater paradise, where every colorful fish and vibrant coral taught me about the beauty of nature. Lying on the sandy beaches was a dream. With the warmth of culture that truly touched my heart. Volunteering at NCVO opened my eyes to the incredible community and the importance of making a difference. Each moment was meaningful and profound, and it will shift my perspective forever. The feeling of love and gratitude shown for this world is truly beautiful. I've come out of this trip not just with memories, but as a better version of myself, ready to share the joy and appreciation for everything around me.  -Camden Stamey, Senior

We had an INCREDIBLE time in Crystal River.  I saw my students volunteer, try new things, step out of their comfort zones, meet new people, and learn!  The activities were fun for all.  Our guide, Leah, and drivers, Jen and RJ, were AMAZING!  We could not have asked for a better experience and we look forward to traveling with Appleseed again in the future.

From my 12 year old son: this trip was awesome! We got to experience things that we normally wouldn't, like zip lines and cave exploration. Also, we got to make some new friends and see so many beautiful things! All of the tour guides were really nice and good at their jobs, and also very funny. I had a great time!

We had a fabulous trip. Our group was large, but AE worked out the itinerary perfectly. Not a moment was wasted; we saw and experienced more than I imagined possible with 50 plus. There was something amazing for everyone to enjoy - I loved everything we did. Our tour guides were awesome - knowledgeable, organized, personable, kind. It was a fun adventure!

My son recently returned from a 4-day school trip to Chattanooga, and I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything turned out. Traveled to a beautiful part of the country.
Appleseed guides were amazing. 
Food quality was awful. 
Flight times were less than desirable.  
Whomever was responsible for checking in the students on Southwest dropped the ball- late boarding was unnecessary. 
The service day got cancelled which was actually replaced with one of the best sight seeing day.   Poor planning. 
Overall, I am thankful my daughter made new memories but there were some easily avoidable hiccups.

Paid $4000 for a week long trip for my son. Found out on his return there were not enough beds and he had to sleep on the floor the entire time. This is so wrong. Someone (dubious travel agency) is pocketing cash and making kids sleep on the floor. Shame on this agency !! 

We had an incredible time and our guide, Lindsey, was more than accommodating. Everything we did was amazing and, even when the itinerary had to change due to weather, there was always a plan B and C! Such fun planned adventures and even more unplanned memories!

The overall trip and activities were great for the students.  Both of mine liked the service (painting school) the best.  They also enjoyed the zipline, white water rafting and catamaran.  Accommodations should have been cleaner and safer with the money paid.  The two hotels they stayed in were unacceptable and unsafe.  They were not clean and the first one they stayed in was very dangerous.  The bus was clean and activities were enjoyed.

Trip price: Trip price provided is per traveler and subject to change due to unforeseen airline tax or fuel surcharge increases if airfare applies. The trip price is based on a minimum number of travelers. Travelers are responsible for carrying their own luggage and in some cases this could include carrying bags up stairs. Please note, travelers are subject to baggage fees charged by the airlines. If flying, check your airline website to verify all baggage fees and requirements.&nbsp;Cancellations: All cancellations must be made in writing via email or direct mail and received in our FL office by the date of cancellation. To cancel via email, send notice to billing@appleseedexpeditions.com. To cancel via direct mail, send notice to 16400 US HWY 331 S, B2, #263, Freeport, FL 32439.&nbsp;Refunds: Refunds will be given on a prorated basis. For cancellations received prior to 90 days before the trip departure date, the non-refundable deposit is retained by Appleseed. For cancellations received between 90-61 days prior to departure date, deposit + 30% of the trip price is retained by Appleseed. For cancellations received 60-31 days prior to departure date, deposit + 50% of the trip price is retained by Appleseed. No refunds will be given for cancellations received 30 days or less prior to the trip departure date. If a trip has been postponed, the refund policy is based on the original travel dates.&nbsp;Trip cancellation insurance: The price of your trip does not include trip cancellation insurance. In the event of a cancellation, travelers may lose a portion or all of their funds paid. It is strongly recommended that travelers purchase trip cancellation insurance to recover funds they may possibly lose due to a cancellation.&nbsp;Right to trip modification: Appleseed Expeditions shall have the right, at any time in its discretion and without liability or cost, to modify any trip or portion of a trip to include but not limited to changes in accommodations, activities, transportation or travel dates in the event of any trip being rendered unsafe or the event of unforeseen circumstances such as a change in weather or reasons beyond our control.&nbsp;Right to traveler cancellation: Appleseed Expeditions reserves the right to send any traveler home at any time during the trip due to behavioral issues at the traveler's expense or parent's expense in a manner determined by Appleseed Expeditions if Appleseed deems the behavior as a safety risk to other travelers or deems the behavior as causing a disruption to the program. No refunds will be given for any unused portion of the trip.&nbsp;

- Travelers will be expected to participate in all group activities and adhere to all vendor rules and regulations.- During free time, minors must be in groups of three or more and be accompanied by an adult.&nbsp;- The consumption, use, or under the influence of alcohol, tobacco products, illegal drugs, or the use of profanity is prohibited during our programs.&nbsp;

Traveler Expectations

Luggage/carry-on: Pack light. You will be carrying your own luggage, and in some areas this could mean carrying it up stairs. We ask that you limit your luggage to one suitcase with a maximum weight limit of 40 lbs. Remember to reserve some weight for souvenirs you’ll want to bring home. Airlines have their own weight restrictions and do charge if you go over. Visit your airline’s website for more information about their luggage restrictions and baggage fees. We suggest bringing one carry-on to include anything you might need during your flight and for your first day upon arrival.
